Lochlann has a 20-year track record in sports administration, from grass roots to NGB Chair. In his professional life he has over 30 years’ experience in commercial leadership roles in large multi-nationals which complements the skills needed in Sport Administration.
Lochlann has spent over a decade chairing boards, leading teams, and delivering results for national and international sports organisations. As President of Triathlon Ireland, an OFI Board Member and Chair of the OFI Gender Equality Commission, he has seen firsthand what is possible when teams work together.
His passion for sport is driven not only by the competition, but by the values of how it brings us together, the stories of overcoming adversity and the positive impact sport has on us all as a society.

Sports Administration | As chair of TI and a board member of the OFI, as well as independent roles in Volleyball and Water Polo, I have a deep understanding of Sports Administration. My international sports roles have given me a good insight into international best practice and as a grass roots participant I understand how decisions at the top impact sport at the grass roots. Should I be elected I will continue to ensure that OFI decisions are focused solely on the impact we can make on our athletes and members. |
Governance | As chair of TI I led the implementation of governance structures that have been recognised as sector leading both nationally and internationally. I have brought this experience to the OFI to help drive the governance implementation and reform of our organisation. If elected I will continue to ensure that the OFI operates to the highest standards of governance you have come to expect from us and will actively support our members in their governance journey. |
Information Technology | In my professional role I work for the world’s leading technology infrastructure company, giving me a strong IT foundation and understanding of how technology can positively impact organisations. |
High Performance Sport | I have worked with the OFI board and management to build a new partnership model across HP sport that is assisting Irish athletes perform to their potential, the fruits of which were displayed in Paris 2024. As chair of TI led the creation and development of structures and pathways across our coaching, talent ID and HP athletes to help put in place a long term, sustainable HP system. If elected I will work to build on the baseline, we have set for ourselves in the Paris cycle so that our athletes are given the best opportunity to meet their potential with will put Olympic Sport at the heart of sport in Ireland. |
Commercial / Marketing | I have a long history of delivering commercial success in both my profession and sporting life. The OFI has been extremely successful in building commercial revenues over the past two cycles from a standing start.
In my role in TI, I was intimately involved in building and delivering our commercial strategy which led to the signing of a €1m multi-year sponsorship deal with BMW as well as significantly growing our funding. As we enter into a new quadrennial, I believe we have the opportunity to accelerate our success to date to the benefit of all Olympic Sport and if elected this will be a key focus for me. |
Human Resources | I have been a People Leader for over 15 years, managing teams of over 20 people. I believe the success of the OFI will be delivered by our professional staff team and that ensuring attract and retain the necessary talent will be a key responsibility of the new OFI President and board. |
